Today is the 11st day of August, and the year of 1926. We, partner has been arriving in Kachinland by Baptist missionary for thirty five years. It is the raining season. The rain is not stop, and it is always raining. I’m sitting on a chair by reading bible.
Look, my beloved husband, Hanson, is still translating bible hardly. Last summer, he said to me, “My love Minnie, I couldn’t have resisting the hot weather, I will go to Sinlum Kaba mountain to translate the bible.” It was true. The summer of Bhamo is too hot.
He once said, “If the lord gives me health and strength, I hope to have the old testament completed within two years.”
Look at him, He is busy with bibles. He is reading Hebrew bible and then compared with German, Swedish and English bibles. Sr. Labya De is standing beside him for helping.
My sweetheart Hanson, he cannot stand until now, without the strength of God He is not same as before. He is very pale, and the knuckles of his hands are white. The strength that he is still working is to give the light of God, the Holy Bible, to Kachin people.
It is near to celebrate 50 Golden Jubilee of the Kachin Mission. Hanson said that he just had to finish Zechariah and Malachi. He also said, “ I must finish before Jubilee.” He wants to give Kachin Bible to Kachins Hanson finished New Testament translation into Kachin, and he had already reviewed and reedited.
Which bible verse did I read? As my husband, I am worry about him for unfinished the translation and of course his health.
“Minnie, Minnie,” Hanson is calling to me. Why does he call for?
“ Minnie, I want you to come here,”
Is Hason getting sick? He sound is like he tries to control his voice.
I stand up and come to Hanson I see tears on his face. That tears choked him. And it is his tears of joy.
“ What we set out to accomplish more than thirty years ago we have now finished. I have just now completed the translation of the last verse of the old testament and that completes the whole Bible in Kachin. Minnie and Sara Labya De, I want you to join us here in ln prayer and thanksgiving to God,” Hanson said to me with joy and smiling.
My beloved husband, Dr. Ola Hanson is feel the joyfulness. I am the same with him. The Lord gives the way to Kachins to receive the book of light called the Holy Bible. Before thirty five years ago, They had no written alphabet, but now they become the children of God.
Me, Hanson and Labya De, fell down on our knees, and hold hands together. Hanson poured out his heart in thanksgiving to God that he had been permitted to live to see this hours. My beloved husband, Hanson’s hands are shaking while we pray together. I am holding on his hands...
